Protests and Demonstrations

A number of statements of protest have already been issued due not only to shocking reality of the helicopter crash, but also to the arrogant, uncooperative attitude displayed by U.S. military officials. Many more statements are forthcoming. Numerous marches and protest rallies are also being planned by various groups. Keep an eye on the pages in this section for coverage of all protests.

Statements of Protest: Organizations

Note to ALTs:

As of Sunday, 29 August 2004 thirty-one municipalities in Okinawa have lodged statements of protest. Our volunteer translators are finding it difficult to keep up with the flood of information. If you are an ALT working in a municipal office, it would be extremely helpful if you could provide us with a draft English translation of your municipalityfs statement, as well as a copy of the original Japanese file. Please help!
